On the first weekend in October, Outbreak begins. Limerick’s streets will be over-run with zombies, as we stage the largest Zombie themed party weekend ever seen! Zombie flashmobs, parades, movie screenings, bands, DJs, and plenty of zombie-friendly hotels bars restaurants and nightclubs, this will be unlike any weekend you’ve ever experienced before.

The whole event is a non-profit, community-driven event, to bring people together in a fun and original way, while raising money for local charity. Our chosen charity this year is the Cliona Ring Foundation. The Cliona Ring Foundation gives financial support to families of children who are facing life-threatening illness.
“Few things impact a family more than a diagnosis of serious illness. Every member of the family and every aspect of their lives will be affected such as relationships, money, time and energy. The diagnosis of a life threatening or life limiting illness sets in motion a massive change in the way of life experienced by both the sick child and their family. At the time of diagnosis few families realise how chronic illness will change their lives, with implications that are far-reaching and affect all aspects of family life. Ill children and their families need a wide range of supports, not just the latest medical treatments but also emotional, spiritual and financial support. There are many resources that can help children and families get through this with their spirit, strength and love intact. Yes, illness takes an enormous emotional toll on everyone it touches, but it is possible to survive its ravages and actually end up stronger and wiser and more compassionate for having endured the journey”
